The Charlotte Observer hired Playbook to lead and manage their historic relocation from their 1971 headquarters to new Class A office space at Nascar Plaza. Playbook coordinated and managed the architect, general contractor, furniture dealer, structured cabling, security, audio-visual, relocation services and decommissioning of the existing headquarters. The Observer’s 60,000 SF new space included renovations and the buildout of a newsroom media wall, training, conferencing, and breakroom areas.
Recently I received a call from one of our newspaper properties in Wichita, Kansas who are in the infancy stage of building out their new space and relocating out of their building. They asked me what were the top two or three things to consider or be alerted to when constructing a new space and moving a newspaper. My first and only suggestion for Wichita was to hire a company who can help manage the construction management and relocation for your move. In our case, we were fortunate when we hired Playbook Management Company. Mike Grippo managed the multiple parties of the construction process and relocation, kept us on pace, and was incredibly responsive.
